Dhaka Bank Limited was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on 6th April, 1995 under the Company Act, 1994. It commenced its banking operation on 5th July, 1995 as a private sector bank.

The Bank added two new Branches to its network in 2003 increasing total number of Branches to twenty. One of the two new Branches is a rural Branch to cater to the banking needs of rural people and the other is the first Islamic banking Branch of Dhaka Bank at Motijheel Commercial Area, Dhaka-1000.

In the recent past Dhaka Bank introduced tailor made products e.g. Credit Card, Car Loan, Personal Loan, Vacation Loan etc. The Bank has also launched different Deposit Schemes like Deposit Pension Scheme, Marriage Deposit Scheme, Gift Cheque Scheme, Money Plant Scheme and Monthly Profit Earning Scheme. To strengthen its technological platform, Dhaka Bank installed SWIFT, Reuters, ATM and Automated Phone Banking System.

The Bank conducted different promotional programmes. Some of the successful ones were 0% Interest on spending during the month of Ramadan on Credit Card and Loan Mela.

In the year 2004 the Bank will install world class banking software – Flexcube and will enter into the platform of state-of-the-art technology recognizing that in the age of the technological advancement, the Bank must attain highest level of efficiency to secure customers’ satisfaction. Installation of this software will enable Dhaka Bank to expand and diversify the delivery channels, introduce new products and services covering e-cash and Internet banking.
Dhaka Bank recognizes its responsibilities towards the community. Dhaka Bank has always extended its support to the development of the community through promotion of sports, culture, research, environmental projects and disaster aids. The Bank established Dhaka Bank Foundation on 24th November, 2002, which is solely devoted to the cause of charity, social welfare and other benevolent activities.
