Established by a group of eminent entrepreneurs of Bangladesh Shahjalal Islami Bank Limited was incorporated as a Public Limited Company on April 1, 2001 under the Companies Act, 1994 and commenced its banking operation on May 10, 2001 by opening its 1st Branch at 58 Dilkusha C/A, Dhaka. Shahjalal Islami Bank is an interest free Shariah Bank of Bangladesh operating all types of commercial banking under the Bank Company Act, 1991 and Bangladesh Bank’s Directives. All activities of the Bank are conducted according to Islamic Shariah where profit is the alternative to interest. The Bank’s investment policy follows different modes approved by Islamic Shariah based on Quran and Sunnah.
